Hey everyone,

I've deployed a feddit.uk specific instance of wefwef at app.feddit.uk

If you haven't heard of wefwef before, it's essentially a mobile UI which you can deploy as a PWA to your phone, the link for the actual app is here https://wefwef.app

So that we don't rely on wefwef servers, I've deployed a local version which should be faster as it runs on the same server as feddit.uk so is essentially a second UI to the regular web app as I've limited to feddit.uk only at the moment.

Thanks, Tom

This instance reminds me of the old MySpace days: we're all friends with a chap called Tom who's made us a nice little community :D

There was a certain sense of community when everyone knew who you referred to when you just said "tom" or "smeg".

It's pretty good, but as an Android user it feels weird. I actually quite enjoy using the default web UI, as it seems much smoother than all the native apps I've tried. I am looking forward to Sync for Lemmy though.

Ah, that's why it felt "wrong". I thought it just had some really weird style choices, and that it felt like a Xiaomi skin or something. But it's probably that it has sped the iOS style (I've not used an iPhone in many years)

Personally, I've found jerboa to be pretty good

Yes, I believe it's based on Apollo which is an iOS app. Jerboa is probably my favourite app so far but it's a little clunky.

Nice! I've been using wefwef almost exclusively for the last week. It's my favourite way to use Lemmy. Great to have a dedicated instance.

Great work! Thanks Tom 😎👍

Absolutely amazing. Thank you!

Very cool! I am finding interactions slightly sluggish compared to desktop but that could be to do with the age of the phone and using Firefox.

Thanks for this! I already use Memmy on mobile but this is a nice alternative to have.

Not a real tech-savvy guy, but what are the advantages of using this over wefwef?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Not much to be honest, it helps take the load of wefwef’s own site and this instance should be quicker as well.

Also an advantage for me is that I added a feature in wefwef so I can approve or deny registration applications but the code hasn’t been approved in the main app yet so I wanted to deploy my own version with that in it!

Solid move.

@tom Could you please update Voyager to the latest version? There are lots of improvements.

Thanks, but it still shows version 0.18.2

The current version should be 1.2.0

Lol I forgot to deploy it, should now be fixed

Thanks again. I hope I'm not the only one using this.
