Anon didn't watch the movie then. Spoiler: there are multiple killers and it's a planned murder of people they know.

Edit: also the movie is a satire on the slasher genre anyway.

Edit again: >!also they use guns and stuff in the movie, it's like a whole thing!<

It feels like every slasher film is a satire on the slasher genre, it's just like that.

Sure, but scream is actually one. They directly poke at famous slashers, they explore the tropes of the genre in a meaningful way, and they do it with a conversation with the audience.

A lot of slashers are goofy and almost fit the 'satire' bill in the sense that they know they are cheesy or don't take themselves seriously, like evil dead for example, but they, imo, for the most part categorically don't fit as satire truly.

Movies like cabin in the woods and behind the mask are a closer fit since they intentionally deconstruct the genre, but they do generally lack a bit of what most people consider traditional satire, which is comedy. (funny moments, but not like scream which almost seems to toe the line into parody at times)

I guess, in my opinion a b movie or z movie (Winnie the Pooh, as a semi recent example) doesn't make it satire just because it knows it's bad.

I find it funny how deep the rabbit hole went. Scream is a parody on Slasher Films which are almost parodies of themselves. Then there is Scary Movie, a parody of that parody. I'm pretty sure there is a parody of Scary Movie out there until we come full circle back to serious axe murderer movies.

All you can do is run away franticly while tripping and crying as much as possible, until you get killed.

The ghostface mask somehow gives you teleport power and the strength of the Mountain.

That makes more sense if that was true!

Simliar, to how wearing 'The Mask' gives you powers.
