It's a little sad that we need to actually say this, but:

Don't be an asshole or you will be permanently banned.

Respectful debate is totally OK, criticizing a product is fine, but being verbally abusive will not be tolerated.

Focus on discussing the idea, not attacking the person.

I'm always interested in alternatives to a chain.

It’s always an interesting chain of events to see whether or not these alternatives gain traction

I'm hoping they go into a high gear soon

If it ain't broke, don't' break it. While nothing is perfect it is really hard to do better than a chain.

Chains are good because they distribute the torque across multiple gear teeth. This doesn't, so I imagine the wear on the drive gear would be much greater, especially since the teeth are smaller. Overall not impressed.

There are plenty of motorcycles have shaft drives. I think they will be able to make a shaft that handles the torque of a person peddling

I mean if they backup the talk with a 10k mile warranty I can see it.

Will there ever be a bevel gear drive shaft on a mass production bicycle? The shaft and supporting structure has to be really ridigd to keep the gears meshing properly. That means more weight and more expensive. Also, expensive replacement parts.
