[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I was picturing the 90's video game when you said that

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I identify myself as a lemming now. There’s no way back

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I don't know about that. Calling someone a lemming is usually a bad thing.

Even without looking at the comments, Lemmings came to my mind. It is such a great name. β™₯️

Most of the people I've met on here and asked are going with lemmings. That's fine by me, it's cute enough and it works.

I like "Lemmings" personally. Just a big fan of the video game.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Yeah, I saw a older post with same "Lemmings" recommendation.

I vote we call ourselves Lemmiwinks.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Maybe an unpopular opinion but having a name for a Lemmy user is cringe.

What are you gonna ask someone at a party if they're a lemming? They're gonna look at you like wtf are you talking about.

It has big "the narwhal bacons at midnight" vibes.

I dunno. I haven't seen anything quasi official

Lemmurs, lemmings, lemmurians, lemmons, and feds have all been used that I've seen. Feds from fediverse, though that was a joke when it was used

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Kilmisters ;)

We’ve pretty much settled on Lemmings

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

For Lemmy users specifically, I believe Lemmings has been widely accepted. However, when referring to a user of federated software in general (remember they can potentially communicate with other federated software), we could refer to each other as "Fedizens" of the "Fediverse". I have seen a developer use the term "Fedizen" in one of their code examples, and I like it as a more inclusive name.

I always just say "I'm on Lemmy/I'm a Lemmy user". People who use Google also aren't a "Googler" or something 🫠.

I guess I'm no fun at parties...

I prefer "lemmings" (and use it all the time now)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Just saw 2 year older post with same suggestion, I wonder who actually created this "Lemmings" word for lemmy users.
