I don't know how to cross stitch (and did absolutely zero research before starting this kit), but this is a mood, especially after I realized I miscounted and put the s one space off and now have to pull it back out.

No idea why the picture keeps showing up sideways, but that's also about how my foray into cross stitch is going. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

I appreciate that. It makes me feel better that I tried and failed to fix it like 3 times.

Not that it matters, but I heard it turns out sideways because maybe you took the picture sideways, except when you edit the photo to correct it, the photo doesn't actually transmute all the pixels. It just adds a detail saying to rotate it on the metadata. Then when you upload to Lemmy, Lemmy strips the metadata for privacy reasons (type of phone you took the picture on, location info, etc. as well as rotation).

Just like when I want to write something by hand and run out of space when I get to the last letters

Sounds like you're the kind of person who would enjoy Very Ugly Plates. Worth a google.

You were correct, I googled and I do enjoy that.

I applaud your willingness to jump in with zero research and figure it out ๐Ÿ˜„ But you already do proper embroidery which let's be honest is way harder. Cross stitch will just be a relaxing diversion compared to that!

I feel like this is harder! Maybe because if you mess up, you can't just be like, "fuck it, put a flower over it" like you can with a lot of embroidery. You have to be a lot more precise with cross stitch.

Haha, fair point! Although I reckon a lot of cross stitch patterns would be improved with the addition of a random 3d flower ๐Ÿค”

Just needs a "wassup" and your good

Now for your next project, a line drawing of a hand giving the finger

Funny you should say that. I'm currently working on this, too, and I really considered turning it into a middle finger, but I want to hang it up at work, so I'm being an adult about it.

Make 2 and switch depending on your mood.
