Really depends on the wiring in your house, but I’d say yes. Disconnect the transformer before you do anything and do not short the wires on the outside. In any case, consult a proper electrician if you are unsure how to verify the wiring. 8 volts can still result in a bang if it’s AC.

Thank you for your reply. I might just bite the bullet, considering the price is not as high as the other options.
I believe it will work. The wire aqara will use is just for power so although that doorbell won’t trigger the mechanical one, the other legacy doorbell should work as expected
