No approval required. When you see that itβs likely the instance hosting that community is struggling and the request is taking a while. If you cancel and try again a few times it should eventually work.

Some of them come up with that but Iβve not worked out the pattern yet. You might be on to something about them being on other instances, Iβll check..
Iβve had that happen to me once while visiting another instance on the computer. I eventually clicked the button again to cancel, and then clicked it again and it worked right away. π€·ββοΈ
Seems to be mostly communities from lemmy.ml having this problem.
