Seems like a huge amount of my posts are from this one account, which some/most are news, so... That's cool and all, but I wasn't expecting so many from just one account.

I was. But I blocked them and now I'm not!

I blocked it too since it clogged up my local feed lol. No hard feelings, some links were really interesting.

Just wondering OP, is your front page set to "Local"? You can get a much wider view of the federated network by using "Subscribed" (assuming you've subscribed to communities on other instances) or "All".

You can change the default filter as well in your profile settings:

It seems like it's their personal link collection that we can all see?

A true self published zine (that's just links?)

A public pocket/read-it-later?

Seems like it's how some folks will use these sites as a crossover between following users a la twitter and mastodon vs following threads/topics a la reddit and lemmy.

I'm a ~~sucker~~ participant and commented on one.

Personally I've really enjoyed some of the content @[email protected] has been sharing, I think he has good taste 😃

Thanks for that! I recommend that people block the community if they find it annoying, but I'm quite surprised it was found at all.

Thank you, so much for the great instance! Glad I made my way here.

Not going to block since I love what you're aggregating :)

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

I enjoy them as well. Whenever I come here, his articles make me feel like visiting slashdot.org

As I started sharing things, I did wonder if mastodon, or calckey would be a better option. I never had a Twitter account, so the thought never occured to me. I'd block the community if you find it annoying.

Can I do this? Figure we should tag them if we're going to discuss them

I appreciate the inclusion! I've responded a few times in the thread with more details, but, my recommendation is to just block the community if you find it annoying. I didn't think about it clogging up the local feed.

They actually call out that the traffic will ebb and flow on a whim in the main post.

same lol. I think its just a guy posting a lot of stuff while not much happens on other places. just a guess

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yep, I didn't think about the possibility of it clogging up the local feed. I'd recommend blocking the community if you don't like it, or find it annoying.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I quite like it, actually! :)

Yeah. They're going a bit too hard.

I get wanting to kick-start the community, but we need conversation as well as posts.

edit: oh i misread, it's just one person's links, nobody else can post. No community to kick-start there. I guess it's easy to block.

I'll be honest here... it took me a while to make the waluigi connection. The mini avatar looked like a guy with black hair and a top knot with a black messenger bag strap and a white shirt carrying a bag of groceries...
