I run several subs on Reddit that are very video-dependent. Direct uploading them to Reddit (as opposed to uploading to imgur and linking) was a preferred practice of most users.

Any timeline on that capability making its way to lemmy.world?

I would rather users depends on a third party service for stuff like video. These are volunteer services and hosting/transcoding videos is a heavy process that I don’t think Lemmy instances should really have to worry about

Yeah, working with a federated service like peertube seems like the best solution

why not just use imgur? reddit photos and videos suck in comparison anyways.
