I've switched back to my Zune and mp3s. So over all the damn ads.

I've been using an mp3 style walkman for awhile. There's something about dedicated single purpose electronics that is so comfy. They also just work as the software is always barebones simple.

I either buy CDs (and rip 'em to .FLAC files) or just purchase the files from the artist's own Bandcamp, because I hate subscription services. More money to the people making the music as well.

Can't you either pay or use another service?

I just use plexamp and stream from my own music library at home. Fuck subscriptions.

I used to do this but managing all the content was a chore.

If ya don't want ads, get Spotify premium, it's really not that expensive for what you get

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

or just use xmanager

Try xmanager

I recommend ViMusic or even better a cheap own server with music, it's fun.

ViMusic is great! I've been using it for 2 months now. Only missing feature is downloading songs.

If you're on android check out spotube.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I didn't know about this, does it require a Spotify account or login?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You can use a Spotify account if you already have one to sync your playlists and liked songs but afaik you dont need one.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I just tried it and without an account it will only let you browse by genre, and you can't keep or create any playlists. Still not bad as an option though

My wife and I use Spotify premium. The ability to play music thoughout the house is so nice, plus I use the Spotify DJ almost exclusively to give me music cuz it's less time than managing my own playlists.

I don't think I've used the lyrics feature once. If I want prices I just google

I use NewPipe and get most music from YouTube, on my phone. No ads, and there is hardly any buffering between videos on playlists which is pretty cool. Solid background player so you can turn the screen off or be using other apps and the music won't be affected.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Agreed, NewPipe is awesome. The only thing I wish it had was an actual feed of my subscriptions, not just a list of my subscribed channels that I have to manually refresh to get their new videos.

try Innertune
