It was a "rubber" bullet, but still.

These cops are fucking scum and anybody who wears the LAPD badge should feel ashamed to be associated with them.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 day ago

In 1992, LA had riots sparked by police brutality. Since then, the LAPD has striven to uphold the utmost standards in police work . . . lol, no, they made sure ACAB applies double to them.

Jailed

There must be real consequences. We need leadership that actually has the balls to deal with this sort of trash.

/and no, I'm not holding my breath or expecting anything to actually happen

He'll probably get a promotion

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

Firing is a promotion sorta

[–] [email protected] 120 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Maybe not every single one of them will shoot an unarmed civilian, but all of them just stood by and did nothing.

Verdict: ACAB.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 22 hours ago

It would be funny if one of them arrested the shooter on the spot

Manufacturers of "less lethal" rubber rounds do not consider them safe at that range. They're considered very dangerous with a high risk of death within about 10 meters.

That's a seriously injured, unarmed, citizen and not only do they not lift a finger to help they seem to fire at the woman trying to help her.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 2 days ago (6 children)

You're also supposed to bounce them off the ground. Never a direct hit.

No way I could be a cop. If I was standing in line with those guys and saw my coworker shoot a girl close range I'd punch him in the face. This is what people mean when they say ACAB. There's no way a decent person can see a woman get shot like that and not want to help.

It was a rubber coated metal bullet fired at close range.

You do not shoot someone unless you want them dead.

[–] [email protected] 132 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Shit, as prior military we were taught you don't point your weapon at anything or anyone unless you're prepared to pull the trigger. The fact that all the others on that line had their weapons down, but this dude has his up the whole time, tells you all you need to know about the lack of training of that individual.

[–] [email protected] 118 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Lack of training

On the contrary, these pigs are doing exactly what the people in power want them to.

reminder that "non lethal weapons" are actually just "less lethal weapons". rubber bullets, tear gas and tasers absolutely can and have killed people.

[–] [email protected] 47 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I was wondering, if someone shot rubber bullets at a cop, would they be charged with attempted murder or assault?

[–] [email protected] 43 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

In America, you can be charged with murder if the piggly wiggly arresting you works too hard and has a heart attack.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/charges-dropped-guatemalan-farmworker-death-sheriffs-officer-arrest-rcna141681

So shooting anything at a cop is most likely summary execution at the scene.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You don't even have to shoot anything. You don't even have to be holding something capable of shooting something. The cop just has to say that from their perspective it kind of looked like you might have been holding something that could have been capable of shooting something and they'd likely be able to justify murdering you.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If anyone ever doubts this, go watch some police body worn camera videos. They routinely shoot people for things like this and get away with it. Then on videos where someone ambushes the police, the right wing lunatics watching will always say “See? This is why they are so jumpy!” as if it’s totally justified.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 23 hours ago

"The land of the free? Whoever told you that is your enemy."

[–] [email protected] 167 points 2 days ago (4 children)

That is fucking nuts. If you have 50 police officers you do not need to shoot a woman who is VERY clearly not a fucking threat. Holy shit they treated her like she was carrying

[–] [email protected] 1 points 21 hours ago

They kept shooting at her even when she was limping away crying and someone trying to help her. So being a threat I think was the least of their concerns. Seems more like they were enjoying target practice.

Punk-ass cowards. Trigger-happy pigs. Death to them all.

[–] [email protected] 105 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Person who took this video is an actual hero. I don't want to imagine what could have happened to that woman without them.

Also: don't make the mistake of looking at the replies to this on Twitter. I forgot just how bad it was, but nearly every top reply is by verified accounts trying to justify this somehow. It's actually insane to me the complete lack of empathy these people show - past party lines and political differences, isn't this obviously a bad thing that shouldn't have happened?

Well, she might have been an undercover reporter, what choice did they have?

[–] [email protected] 43 points 2 days ago

Obviously Hamas

[–] [email protected] 118 points 2 days ago (6 children)

Hollywood needs to pump out more REAL cop shows, where they show how cowardly, fat and racists cops are.

"Rubber" bullets are steel bullets coated in rubber.

[–] [email protected] 28 points 2 days ago

And can easily break bones or maim if used incorrectly.

I think it's because downtown LA had a curfew. But that's kinda bullshit because where else would this person go if she came home after working a night shift? Sleeping outside would also break curfew

[–] [email protected] 59 points 2 days ago (3 children)

She was a local resident trying to get to her home
