There are a lot of things people do that kill sharks or make the waters uninhabitable for sharks. When people hear that, they think "good, I don't want to get et by a shark when I go swimmin" because that's how they talk. This is supposed to draw attention to how sharks don't actually pose a threat to swimmers, and highlight their importance in the aquatic ecosystems.
I mean one swim doesn't prove anything though
Sure, but how about all the swims of all the people who never get attacked by sharks? This one is for attention.
Well, I was thinking more about the other ones.

I’m not saying the sharks aren’t safe, it’s just perhaps not quite as safe as some of the other ones.
It's not meant to prove anything, just to draw attention to the issue.
Sure, but the article didn't tell me anything about what's at stake or provide a call to action or anything.
I'm now aware that the jaws 50th anniversary is coming up, and some guy swam around the island where it was filmed without being eaten. But again, not sure what I'm supposed to do with that info.

I’m glad he didn’t get eaten by sharks but it would have been really funny if he got eaten by sharks. It’s a conundrum.
