Almost everyone uses their routers in Germany. I'm happy with them, never even used a different brand. Not as happy with their repeaters though, the ones I've had tended to overheat.
I thought we were talking about Fritz cola ๐
Yes, definitely. I have used fritz! routers since I had DSL at home, and now I also hace them qith fiber. no doubt, go for one.
You see their products a lot in The Netherlands and usually have good reputation
My (old) ISP provided a fritzbox, one of the best ISP provided routers I have ever used, but if you have the time and money they are better "prosumer" options out there.
Yeh, best isp router I have ever had. Let's you VPN I to your network, setup dyn DNS if needed, gives you lots of usage stats etc.
Unfortunately it doesn't let you change it's MAC address so I can't use it instead of my new ISPs shitty router. (Edit: their support told me how! Will test it out)
Fyi the 6790 is their newest one out this year with WiFi 7. (I have been researching routers too)
What prosumer ones would you recommend?
I use unfi but that's an American company so not really fitting for these community and why I didn't initially name them.
Had some consumer stuff from other companies before, but once I got a Fritzbox I was sold. The interface works well, you get more options than on similarly priced other products and so far they've been extremely reliable. I now run two fb as access points, a fb as the house's main router and several smart thermostats. Had their powerline solution before we moved to a new house that didn't need it. Wouldn't ever go back to something else - unless they turn to shit after being sold or something.
Don't know how Fritz compares to other big router companies but I'd personally go for an open source router like the OpenWrt One instead.
I have OpenWrt running on a Fritzbox!
Oh, that makes it even better!
