I got the house! Party time! Unfortunately 90 day settlement maximum but gives me time to save for the new kitchen and flooring. W00t!

Just been almost non stop AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA from 7am to 4:30pm working with different groups of people on full-attention topics when I normally hardly talk to anyone, AAAAAAing in the rain back home, brief 15 minute interlude to cuddle sox and shove things around, then another AAAAAAA trying to get the suddenly bewildered and upset sox into her carrier (Praise be to Churu), now to AAAAAA in the rain 40 minutes away to do a rundown of cat and house things at the next place before they go away, dinner with them, drive back (hopefully more of an aaaaaaa), then start packing shit like mad because I thought I had all of tomorrow to move over but actually I don't

You know you've really hit adulthood when you get a new vacuum cleaner and immediately start vacuuming with excitement to see how much dust it can take (answer - a lot!)

Casual Bison out for a stroll down the road this morning 🦬

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What did the Buffalo say when he dropped his kid off at school?

Bison.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

I hit my dad with this classic and he didn't even see it coming:

Me: "Big flock of Bison back there"

Him: "Herd of Bison"

Me: "Of course I've heard of Bison, there's a big flock of them back there!"

I am the master now.. although he has never really been one for jokes so I always was the master.

Far out. Imagine hitting one of those on a dark stretch of road. Game over.

Last night my kid yells from the kitchen "I really don't like opening containers in the fridge". Me " Why not?" Her "because I don't know what horrors you have stored in them". I guess she came across my congealed lamb stock with the fat still on the top. Luckily she didn't get to see the pumpkin I "rejuvenated" ready for tomorrow's soup.

Me to bar guy: it literally takes 30 seconds to send a text message to ask someone how they are and show you care.

Him: you're underestimating the amount of time it takes for me to text

🤦‍♂️

If anyone has found my brain can they please let me know? Reward offered. Many thanks.

My concentration and focus is totally out the window today, I just spent way too long trying to remember what I was in the middle of doing at work after being interrupted by a phone call. Simple tasks seem way too hard today.

It's gonna be a long week...

The most unrealistic thing for me in time travel shows and movies isn't the time travel itself, but the fact that a lot of the time the characters seem chill wearing the period appropriate clothing. Send me back and I'd be spending a hell of a lot of time thinking how utterly stupid I look, I mean it'd be fun, but I wouldn't be like ok guess this it for me now as put on a pair of 70s platform shoes or some 18th century breeches and stockings.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

I think you'd find that you'd adapt very quickly. If everyone else is wearing the sameish clothes you'd get used to it very quickly. The clothes wouldn't be a fancy costume, or stupid, they'd be normal fashion. Speaking from doing amateur theatre a bit in the past - clothes I wouldn't be caught dead in out in the street feel quite OK if everyone else is wearing similar. And I survived the 70s platform shoes back when they were normal fashion. Don't miss them - horrible to walk in but you had to wear them or be square.

Was threatened by a methhead on Separation Street out Northcote way this morning. I've reported it to the cops (who actually took me seriously, I'm kinda shocked), but is there anything else I should be doing? On my way to work right now but feeling super unsafe.

I’m sorry. I’ve been seeing a few people post about this. Unfortunately the housing crisis, decades of mental health cuts, increased costs of living and lack of supports over covid seem to have worsened it

Found the rest of my old school reports while sorting stuff. My God some of those teachers' remarks were bitchy.
Fire will be therapeutic, methinks.

I know tradies can have a bad rep sometimes, but huge credit to the guy who's been here for the last two days installing our new fence. He's done a great job, even in today's rain. And he was in his teeny-tiny shorts and t-shirt the whole time!

So this methed out woman was banging and yelling around midnight last night, trying to get into the apartments next door. I can hear her now down there again, having a big tantrum and cussing.

I slept in today 😩 luckily it was only by maybe 45 minutes so I got to work in time, just means I'm a bit stanky (luckily my deodorant came in the mail yesterday). Y'all didn't need to know this but I have no journal to write my thoughts in haha.

Wow reddit Melbourne has gone downhill and I never strayed far from the daily thread anyway. So much bullying and typical insensitive garbage from the mouths of people with internet connections. I finally deleted the app from my phone so I can't read it when I'm out. I can't imagine twitter dying a slow death will improve it either.

I'm getting into the groove of this new job. Seem to be fine with the low earnings which I'd hoped. I don't go out, don't drink or drug and most entertainment I find not good after 30 years of being somewhere or other in the business. I'm sure plenty of things entertain others, but its definitely a cheaper way to live. I don't need a gym, work is hard and physical. Cats almost always wake me up about 15mins before my alarm would go off. I seem generally happy.

My work team is down to 7, from about 16 a few months ago, and we've been really feeling it. Today, the three of us who I'd say are the most experienced/proficient are all off sick. Kinda want to log in as 'appear offline' just to see how fucked it is today. 🍿

Breakfast for dinner. Bacon, scrambled eggs, avo on toast with side of haloumi. Was supposed to make a pasta bol but couldn’t be bothered. I enjoyed that more than I thought I would.

Kiddo chucked a tactical on the way out the door, all 3 of us copped it. No worries, we get cleaned up. As we're taking his top layer off he poops. no worries, start cleaning that up only for him to let lose a piss covering everything. Yeah that one was harder to clean up.

Halp. I’ve hidden my box of cookies so well, I can’t find them.

Nvm, remembered where they were while typing this… 😂

(Also did search most of the house. Gonna be great when I finally lose my mind.)

I've been going through my seed collection making plans for summer, and after trying to figure out where I am going to fit everything I have made a momentous decision: I'm going to get rid of the outdoor seating area and put in more garden beds. I liked the idea of having an area to sit outside, but in reality I don't use much. Hopefully I can get some money from selling the furniture & chimenea to offset the costs, but I think I can make some raised beds there fairly cheaply, and I have leave coming up so I should have time to do the work.
