Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

5 Calls will give you your reps, their party (so you can avoid calling any republicans and getting yourself put on a potential retaliation list), multiple methods for contacting each rep (displayed in the order you should consider them), and then a script for what to say for any one of several dozen issues at hand.

Call your reps, and push them to do their jobs!

You mean call their officers get a voicemail prompt and then be told the inbox is full.

I feel very represented.

I found out about this app last week and I, my wife, and mother in law have all made calls. It works. I mean, I can't know if anyone listened to the messages or took any action, but the app does help you make calls

o yeah nothing wrong with calling. I call all the time, its just my reps are 100% trump allies and grifters they dont listen to their messages they just bulk delete them. emails and letters just get me added to mailing lists and they dont even take the time to say how or why they disagree. So much fun!

Yeah, as I said, think very carefully about if you want to call republican reps.

The website has instructions for if that happens as well!

What do you expect Democrats to do without a Constitutional majority in either House of Congress, and in none of the 3 Branches? They have no power. Young Democrats didn't vote. Young Republicans, and more Arab and Latino Americans voted for Donald Trump than have ever voted for any Republican candidate before in history. Do you think they can chant some incantations over sage? What job you do imaging Democrats in government can perform without the Constitutional power to perform them?

Show any semblance of desire to help their countrymen? Not vote in favor of confirming right-wing extremists to the administration and judiciary?

They've so far refused to do anything but capitulate when they have a majority or a minority.

They can actually do a significant amount, like force a recorded vote. That means that everyone has to stand by and admit, on the record, what they're voting for, which becomes voting fodder later. It also significantly slows down the passage of bad bills and allows them to potentially be tied up.

They can also make frequent quorum calls, which also allow things to be tied up. Remember, these people are not working 40 hours a week, 50 weeks a year- if you stall things enough they fall off the agenda entirely and suddenly republicans have to start prioritizing what shit they're trying to ram down our throats.

Additionally they can not do repugnant shit like agree to a unanimous consent time agreement, which speeds republicans atrocities through the senate- which Democrats literally just now did to fast track Gabbard through confirmation as the Director of National Intelligence.

The minority party can ABSOLUTELY gum things up- there's all KINDS of dilatory motions the minority party can do, but right now democrats seem wholly uninterested in actually being an opposition party. In fact, top Democrats are actually mad that progressives are calling for them to be an opposition group in a meeting on tuesday!
