Summary

Trump’s 90-day freeze on foreign aid, announced on January 20, has disrupted life-saving programs worldwide.

Despite waivers for “core life-saving” aid, confusion and lack of communication from U.S. officials have left malaria, HIV, and famine relief efforts stalled in countries like Ghana, Haiti, Myanmar, and Bangladesh.

USAID, the primary aid agency, is in turmoil, with mass firings and restrictions on external communication.

Aid workers fear critical funding may not be restored, jeopardizing millions of lives dependent on humanitarian support.

Gotta hand it to trump, I don't think I could have conceived of a better way to bring to light the vast amount of good the US does for the world than to... uh... abruptly stop doing it.

Hmm.

Another grave tragedy ignored by the right-wing media in the US (ie: all of the media). THESE ARE GOOD PEOPLE, DOING GOOD WORK FOR LITTLE-TO-NO MONEY, IN THE WORLD’S POOREST AND DIFFICULT REGIONS AND AMERICA - ONCE AGAIN - HAS LEFT THEM HIGH AND DRY. Does anyone believe any of these programs are coming back “after 90 days”? These people need to eat - today - they can’t wait around hoping that the USA comes to its senses. America has — once again — proven that it is a friend to no one, and, by all rights, should have no friends. Any country trying to appease these monsters will find themselves annexed or worse.

Back during his last presidency Aotus put the Drug Free Communities Grant on hold that I wrote for. I couldn't keep paying myself and I had to find a new job. Months later after I had already found a new job my grant was finally approved. Totally fucked me and my community over.

Dude never heard the term soft power has he?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

He did, but he thought it meant being strong when he couldn't get it up. He hates it, because he feels weak in those cases, and it happens so, SO often.

That's right, all the evil is can strolled by one man for 4 to 8 years. According to law, there's no recall option. Which is both stupid and untrue. I sure hope its something incredibly stupid and embarrassing. Enough to become classified and revealed 30 years from now when I'm in my death bed... "Oh it was a fucking peanut! I knew it! Now I may go in pace."
