Flippant Anarchism. A lighter take on social criticism with the aim of agitation.

Post humorous takes on capitalism and the states which prop it up. Memes, shitposting, screenshots of humorous good takes, discussions making fun of some reactionary online, it all works.

This community is anarchist-flavored. Reactionary takes won't be tolerated.

Join an org, learn by doing
Study historical examples of movements whose results you want to emulate
Study your local conditions to apply said lessons
Create your own group of like minded individuals and start having regular meetings about a struggle you all care about.
Practice democratic decision making.

The question "but how do we do it" is one of the biggest questions facing the left. Its very open ended, though there are many things that are fairly settled IMO. The most important one, is the revolutionary potential of the working class, namely, we run the machines, we create much of the value in society with our labor, the rest coming from natural resources or "dead labor" in the form of machines; if we organized according to our class interests against the billionaire class that is organized against our interests, we could overthrow them, more or less peacefully, by just deciding not to work for them any more.

In principle this is pretty straightforward and scientifically proven, in practice it's very difficult.

Start small, move gradually to include more organizing work in your life, and bring more friends and like minded people in your circle together to resist the worst abuses of capitalism, fight for reforms that undermine the power of the ruling class.

But one of the most important things you can do on your own, is to study and grow your own knowledge and capabilities. Then organize with others in shared struggle, which means listening to the struggles people have in their life and making plans together to overcome them politically. This is actually very dependent on where (and when) you live, what works in NYC will probably bomb in rural Kansas. so you have to be willing to try things, plan and attend meetings, encourage and educate others, see plans through to execution.

Its kind of a skillset on its own, and there's (maybe predictably) a shortage of leaders who are adept at this kind of grassroots democratic organizing. Bug its def something you can learn and become involved in with patience and grit.

Good luck! If you want more specific info on how to get involved. DM me and I'll see if I can help you

you'd think people world organize before making him president if that's what they wanted

[–] [email protected] 5 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

He became president with a heavy helping of voter suppression, so maybe don't mistake or misrepresent his presidency as the will of the people.

86 million people didn't vote. I'm sure some of them were suppressed. but even then that's quite a few people who are totally okay with him on the helm. you can't absolve the people with voter suppression claims. voter suppression has always been there. it's not 86 million votes.

I feel like there's this effort to beat Trump using the 2017 #resistance playbook. I don't think it will work.

Don't tell us what to do, tell us how to do it.

Decentralised protesting, start shit somewhere and run as fast as you can before the police arrives, start shit somewhere else. Repeat until demands are met.

Look at historical examples of peaceful protests.

I'm now dead because police shot me on a college campus.

And so you've become a martyr in the fight against corruption.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 hour ago

No thanks. I already resent the amount of my life I've spent on trying to make the world not suck and not just... living a life.

Then again, I do also resent being born. Not the same as being ok with dying though.

If you want violent protests it's better to look at revolutions in this case.

Spread positivity at work. Help people with their tasks. Create a sense of community. This has the added benefit of temporarily appeasing your capitalists so they won't notice what's happening.

Once you have a solid foundation and people start spreading the positivity themselves, wait. Wait until it spreads through the entire company, then organize.

Important to note that in some places it may be more feasible to sow dissent than happiness, but it's also harder to pull off organization that way

How do you eat a hamburger ten times the size of your head? One little fish pretending to be a fin at a time.

Fat chance of that. Americans have proven they're the most spineless cowards there are. It's like they're trying to play out all of Niemöller's First They Came to completion.

Things that can tip one way can tip another. All hope is not yet lost. Let’s keep our chins up and keep trying.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'll believe that when I see it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 hours ago

We saw it 5 years ago with BLM.

And don't forget your towel!
