RULES (updated 01/22/25)

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling. To be concise, disrespect is defined by escalation.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible. You won't be punished for trying.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (politics or societal debates come to mind, though we are not saying not to talk about anything that resembles these). There's a guide in the protocol book offered as a mod model that can be used for that; it's vague until you realize it was made for things like the rule in question. At least four purple answers must apply to a "controversial" message for it to be allowed.
  4. Keep it clean and SFW: No illegal content or anything gross and inappropriate. A rule of thumb is if a recording of a conversation put on another platform would get someone a COPPA violation response, that exact exchange should be avoided when possible.
  5. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc. The chart redirected to above applies to spam material as well, which is one of the reasons its wording is vague, as it applies to a few things. Again, a "spammy" message must be applicable to four purple answers before it's allowed.
  6. Respect privacy as well as truth: Don’t ask for or share any personal information or slander anyone. A rule of thumb is if something is enough info to go by that it "would be a copyright violation if the info was art" as another group put it, or that it alone can be used to narrow someone down to 150 physical humans (Dunbar's Number) or less, it's considered an excess breach of privacy. Slander is defined by intentional utilitarian misguidance at the expense (positive or negative) of a sentient entity. This often links back to or mixes with rule one, which implies, for example, that even something that is true can still amount to what slander is trying to achieve, and that will be looked down upon.

Oh man, today is a FULL day for me! My son has an archery tournament out of town, and then we are going to celebrate Tết at my best friends house.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Good luck to your kid in the tourney!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

TFW it's good morning at 8 PM. Time zones are a cruel mistress. I'm now at my local mosque listening to sermons and waiting for the group prayer and free food, then I'll go home and study for my exam (read: watch anime and sleep).

Drinking too much coffee and doomscrolling from my bed until I get my hands on another bag of weed later and can function (somewhat) properly again.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This is kind of sad buddy :/ sounds like too much weed

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Lol I guess it is. And I'm absolutely addicted to weed. Anyone who says that isn't addictive hasn't experienced the lack of appetite, insomnia and general lack of will to live when you're a heavy smoker and you go without.

It's still probably cheaper therapy than actual therapists and pharmaceuticals though.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I hope you can feel better. I used to drink too much, I still drink but significantly less after my child was born. Makes me feel 100% better.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I can believe that having kids changes things. And yeah, I'd like to cut down as well. If for nothing else, then just my wallet lol.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I’m honestly lucky. I was drinking way way too much prior to my child. One month before it just clicked and I chilled out.

I haven’t smoked. How much is it per day? Whenever I look it seems super expensive.z

I buy R50 bags, which is around the price of a pack of legal cigarettes with some change left over. Although I think it's hard to compare prices of things across borders and currencies.

And this R50 bags are basically the lowest rung of the decent quality. And it's outdoor, so sometimes the quality is pretty close to indoor, sometimes it's not so great. And if the quality is good, it'll be a strict 5 grams but if it's standard stuff, the guy usually packs a little extra.

So it's also a bit difficult to give it a per day cost. A R50 bag can last me 1 to 3 days depending on a few factors.

Just want to add, I'm also my weed guy's movie and series guy. So I'm often getting free bags thrown in, in exchange for some movies and shit loaded onto USBs.

I've been there homie. Depending on my tolerance cbd can really help me slow down. It makes being less high way more manageable for me and therefore much easier to wean my usage down.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I should look into where I can get hold of CBD products. We don't really have dispensaries and stuff around here. It's legal to have but not to actually buy anywhere (or sell) lol. I think it is approved for medicinal use though.

Although you can get a grade of weed here that's basically a step away from being a hemp plant. As far as I know, that can of stuff is heavier on the CBD ratio of things. Doesn't taste great though.

There some solid online US companies if you can buy from them. I've really enjoyed outdoor from beleafer.com.

Going to home depot to help my kid do the free activity there.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Riding my bike. I am on tour (look up my older post) and I have only nature without much civilization right now so not much else to do.

But it is slow today, had a cold night and campsite is in valley so I didn't get sunshine till 9:30 and my gear is still wet.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

wishing you the best of luck, friend! stay safe.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm MOVING. I hate moving typically, but this is a fresh start for me and it feels so good. It's like taking the first step into the sun after a long cold winter. Proud of me and my journey to self respect.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

Nice work! Remember, if you feel like you're running out of steam while doing the hard work of moving, it's okay to pause and take rest! Moments of rest are productive, contrary to much popular belief.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

Just downloaded cyberpunk 2077 for the first time now that it's finally kinda finished. Have no idea what to expect. Hoping it's a good day.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

Just landed in New Zealand. Today will be checking out Auckland

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

Going for a walk in the country and a few drinks to relax

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

Tomorrow I am going to organize the trash, prepare to take it out, and plan my meal schedule to account for some late-afternoon obligations in the following day. I will probably ride my bike along the lake and possibly lift weights for exercise. There are emails and letters to catch up on too.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

Pop a low dose gummy, get into the creative spirit, and experiment a shit ton with electronic music and textured synths/processed samples.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

Annual town meeting today. It starts at 8:30 am and ends when the warrant articles have all been discussed and voted on. Hopefully it will go smoothly - last year it didn’t end until 6:00 pm, and a resident yelled at the school board chair so much that she quit on the spot!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

Try and go back to bed

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Going to hopefully buy a new suit, and maybe a sports coat.

Work on the chicken coop, work on the truck, and then see about hanging a solar Meshtastic node that I recently finished building.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

Gonna spend some time in the kitchen today. Tomorrow I'm making a homemade version of Flying Saucer's Bratzels for dinner, so today I'll be making the pretzel dough and freezing it so I can bake them tomorrow. I also have 4 bananas going brown so those need to become banana bread. Lastly, I've been saying I'll make tiramisu for two weeks, so I think it's probably time I get it made.

Other than that, I will probably play with my dog and take a nap. It's a cold and cloudy Saturday here so we're gonna enjoy the cozy time.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

Survive until tomorrow.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I’ll be hopefully having a relaxing day drinking some variations of black tea with some creamy oat milk and looking for screen protectors made of glass for my little computer

[–] pebbles 1 points 1 month ago

That's sound great. You had me at tea, you sealed me in with computer.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

I'm hopefully gonna pick up my new bag and perfume from the post office in a few hours, and later tonight going to get together with some friends for board game club (although I think we're playing Heroes of might and magic 3 tonight)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

I'm planning to read my library books 😁

[–] CrustyCrinkles 2 points 1 month ago

I'm sick, called off work, I'll blow my nose, try reading, have a cup of tea, take a nap, blow my nose some more, eat a can of chicken noodle soup, and yeah thats probably it really.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Going to. Store for food and hopefully America government didn't shut off my good stamps to live. Also fearing to be set to a internment camp, so have to be fast.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Hanging out at the house working on some projects. Then I am taking my partner out to dinner and a performance of Mean Girls the musical.
