Let me preface this with an obvious statement.
Ubisoft sucks and they need to get their shit together.
That aside, let's get to my short rant.
I am constantly baffled by the fact that a studio which is pumping out a bland mediocre game after bland mediocre game manages to have the absolute top tier options menu out there.
Not only are there tooltips to explain what each setting does, it also usually gives you a little preview of what each level of the setting does. Once you're done tweaking, they even provide you with a benchmark and if that's not enough for you, there is telemetry you can turn on in game.
Graphics settings are the least of it. Are you colour blind? They got you covered. Eyesight not too good? You can scale the UI. Hearing impaired? Closed captions are included. You don't like staring at a billion HUD elements? Well you can individually turn everything on or off according to your taste.
Clearly there are people at Ubisoft who care deeply about games and are absolutely geeking out when it comes to the technical side of things. I just wish their enthusiasm wasn't ruined by the actual game itself.
Rant over.
