Hello there! I was just flashed by all the great and profound advice on this sub, so I dare to share my recent individual struggle with you too, guys. Appreciating ALL advice!

My current setup (being a casual gamer dad with aspirations to play AAA titles like baldurs gate 3 and such any time this year soon):

gpu MSI RTX 2060 SUPER

cpu AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6x 3.6

board MSI B450M Pro-VHD Max

ram CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 32 GB DDR4 3200Mhz C16

screen (WQHD ,144Hz ? ): Samsung C27JG56 27" Curved

  • Is it viable to upgrade CPU and GPU only and stay on AM4? Like buy a Ryzen 7 5700X3D + Radeon RX 7700 XT? Stick to geforce?
  • Or does that make no sense at all? Will an AM4-Board, DDR4 RAM, etc. be a significant bottleneck?
  • Any other suggestions for more reasonable upgrades to get some more care-free years before replacing the whole system?
  • Btw.: Is the screen making sense at all for WQHD or even a budget bottleneck too?
