This week, several domain names of the Japanese adult pirate website MissAV were redirected to seizure banners. The legal basis for these confiscations wasn't initially clear, but new information ties the action to a U.S. court order. In addition to losing their domain names, the MissAV defendants must pay $4.5 million in damages.

what is the point of this? do they honestly think that by shutting down these sites people will just become subscribers or buy their goods??

What's this actually mean? It's not like they didn't just switch domains and remain online? Article doesn't mention any arrests so seems like they can just sidestep the domain seizure. Or am I wrong and there will be more action?
