MODERATORS

Tried to submit this post but it gets filtered by the automod so posting here for now.

Posting this from an alt because I'm still locked out of my account.

About an hour ago, we went ahead with the changes on r/MildlyInteresting following overwhelming support from our community. The idea was to go public again, but designate the subreddit as NSFW with a bigger focus on suggestive looking fruits and whatnot.

I was preparing the sub to go live, but just after I switched it to NSFW, I was logged out of my account on every single platform and locked out. I can successfully reset my password, but it will nevertheless not let me login.

Following this, another mod posted our update instead. Right after, the u/ModCodeofConduct account removed the post and flipped the sub back to restricted instead of public. Then, the second moderator was also logged out of their account and locked out. Other mods tried to re-approve the post, one of them was promptly logged out and locked out as well.

A few minutes after, the entire team was removed from the subreddit without any prior communication of any kind. As it stands, at least three of us are literally locked out of our Reddit accounts and the other mods were only removed from the sub.

I honestly don't even have words for this situation right now. No communication, no attempt to seriously answer any of our questions we asked in ModMail, but still going in and removing our posts, literally locking us out of our accounts, removing the entire moderation team, and entirely ignoring the 40,000 people who voted to either take the sub back private, or open it with new rules.

The only thing I can say is that I'm incredibly disappointed and disheartened that the Reddit Admins believe this is the correct way to act.

Why people are fucking around with reddit still, I can't even..

Do we expect that suddenly they are going to turn into sweethearts? Even if they did, it would be the most disingenuous thing ever, as pretty clearly Reddit and their executive/board are cockroaches.

It’s not about pursuing Reddit to take back the API pricing, at this point people are aware that that’s not gonna happen. Mods also know that if they keep the subreddit private, they’ll soon be removed. I think it’s smart that there is NSFW content in a sub that frequently is shown on r/all. NSFW subs don’t have advertisements, and this will drive away investors.

But yeah, at some point, mods should look for alternatives and just give up IMO. Stop using Reddit altogether.

IMO it's good to degrade the Reddit experience so that people who are indifferent or haven't been aware of the protest will have to take note and will be more inclined to explore alternatives.

It's all about fucking with them. Yeah, they can pull the plug at any time. But the longer it drags out, and the more of their own rules they have to change/break along the way, the worse position they end up in.

Fuck spez, don't make it easy. Make them play the heavy. Make them do it in a way they can't pretend is justified.

As long as Apollo works i will go to watch the flames burn but make no mistake i am sticking with lemmy. (Though i might check out kbin because the nicer interface)

I think the main goal for us now is to get as much people to move to Lemmy. And then we can create a community here.

Coming from a guy who migrated from Pikabu to Reddit after a similar exodus.

It's restricted right now. Most recent post is 10 days ago.

I’m hoping people will leave when their favourite app no longer works on July 1. Maybe some of the app developers will move over to Lemmy.

I'm so glad Sync is coming to Lemmy

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

Yeah, I'm so excited for sync for reddit, I've used sync for close to a decade now, and how it works just is what I expect from an app :p So it will be great to have it for lemmy, it will probably be what gets me from kbin over to lemmy as well.

I'm hyped for Sync coming to Lemmy! Also Thunder looks really promising though it's just prototype phase now.

So now they are just completely removing mod teams and banning mods. What a shitshow.

The fascists are all coming out to reveal themselves.

Not really, they're hiding behind a "bot" named Modcodeofconduct or some hypocritical shit like that.
