About a month ago I upgraded my pc with a new mobo, ram, CPU, GPU and a new PSU. It’s been working like a charm until today, when I was playing some games with my friends and noticed my pc would freeze every 2 mins.

Suddenly it crashed and when I booted it up again, it said my CPU had overheated. I went into the bios and noticed it was constantly on 87c, no matter what.

Note: I’m still using the stock cpu fan that came with my previous mobo. Can that be a problem?

What I’ve tried:

-checked if my cpu fan was properly mounted. -replaced the thermal paste. -took the cpu out and in again to check if it was properly mounted.

After testing, I did notice that the temperature was the same even when I had disconnected the fan, but I don’t understand why.

Specs: Motherboard: ASUS TUF GAMING B760-plus CPU: intel core i9-12900k GPU: RTX 4060 Ti RAM: Kingston FURY beast DDR5 5200mhz PSU: ASUS TUF gaming 850W Gold
