So the fact that they, citizens of a country with no extradition treaty with the US currently in a country where extradition is famously murky at best, don't want to be extradited to face an American kangaroo court means that they have no rights and MUST be extradited to face an American kangaroo court?

It's like Orwell and Kafka had a baby and then someone appointed that baby emperor of the world 🤦

Yeah over ... checks papers ... Not treason, not murder nor terrorism rape or plotting to overthrow the government ... Here, I finally found it ; for ... copyright infringement??

What a total idiocy.

I know this baby, he's the leading candidate for president in my country. We're doomed 😭

"Fugitives" they say, as they burn books and don't preserve anything.

I'm sure this will go over well.

This is off topic but I'd highy recommend migrating off of comfysnug in the near future, as there is a very real possibility it'll get defederated and possibly even shut down as a result of some of the content hosted there.

What's up with them? Never heard of the place, it seems they are into... visual novels?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Seems like it's Anime and Visual Novels but they also do include loli which is considered CSAM in many countries and has already been listed in a pull request to remove it from join-lemmy.org for that very reason. I imagine many instances will likely defederate from it as well for the same reason.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Thanks for bringing the pull request to my attention. I also think we shouldn't be on the join-lemmy list, and I'm the instance admin.

Oh I see, well glad I could be of help. It would be a good idea if the Lemmy devs included an option in the software to mark Instances as Private so that when they get scanned it would see that certain ones are marked private and wouldn't get added automatically to the list.

Also off topic, but I love visual novels! What are your favorites?

I'm currently reading the Tsukihime remake, enjoying it a lot.

I'm really enjoying the gameplay elements in EiyuSenki / EiyuSenki Gold right now. I don't really have an overall standout favorite; I still have too many good visual novels left to play to make a claim like that!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I'll take a look at those, haven't heard of them before.

I agree lol. I can never give a good answer when people ask for my favorite VN, because there are many I like and many I haven't played.

Utter bullshit. I only use these services for academic publications/books (fiction I just get from the library).

Academic articles are paid for with tax money. Fuck private control over tax funded research.

@Dislodge3233 @King

Yeah it would make the jobs of resaearchers much easier do you have any idea how articles i needed for my master thesis and rhey turned out to be paywalled?
Thanfully my uni email allowed me to acess them but it didnt need to be.

Theres a reason why we call college emails the world's most expensive library card

This is why Fight Club had Rule 1.
