Gilberto Hinojosa is under fire for comments he made implying transgender Texans bear responsibility for disappointing losses by Democrats in Texas.

"You have a choice as a party," he told KUT in Austin. "...you can support transgender rights up and down...or you can understand that there’s certain things that we just go too far on, that a big bulk of our population does not support."

BITCH, clarify which rights you think are too far for other humans please.

Edit: He already apologized.

“I extend my sincerest apologies to those I hurt with my comments today,” he wrote. “In frustration over the GOP's lies to incite hate for trans communities, I failed to communicate my thoughts with care and clarity.”

He added: “You deserve to feel seen, valued and safe in our state and our party. My unequivocal and unwavering support for LGBTQ+ Texans remains steadfast, and I am committed to ensuring our party never abandons you, especially when you need us most.”

That's some "unwavering" support alright. The problem isn't that you "go too far" on trans rights, it's that you fundamentally refuse to message effectively on it to actually counter the hate the other side is spewing.

They've been running on transphobia for years now. Not having figured out good counters to the talking points on the party level is basically political malpractice at this point.
