Historical Artifacts
Just a community for everyone to share artifacts, reconstructions, or replicas for the historically-inclined to admire!
Generally, an artifact should be 100+ years old, but this is a flexible requirement if you find something rare and suitably linked to an era of history, not a strict rule. Anything over 100 is fair game regardless of rarity.
Generally speaking, ruins should go to [email protected]
Illustrations of the past should go to [email protected]
Photos of the past should go to [email protected]
If you're legit looking for work like this, I have no idea how expensive it is (I presume very), but I believe in the modern day the terms used for this kind of work is glass gilding and verre eglomise. Not so sure about the potential of getting someone who can do this style, mind you, but I know that this kind of material is still worked with.
No worries, I'm about to finish building my time machine. I'll bring them back in no time!
The portrait in the middle of the first row looks like it could be a Realism study from the 19th century. Incredible.
There are a number of surviving pieces from Roman Egypt that are just fantastic, incredible artistic skill. Mummy portraits are another good example
