I have a HUGE favor to ask of all my #StitchyFriends...

BASIC #StitchingSafety states that one should refrain from holding #PinsAndNeedles in one's mouth while working.

Unfortunately, this has been a #BadHabit about 40 years old now.

If you all would be so kind, PLEASE remind me periodically that my #Embroidery needle doesn't belong in my mouth while #Stitching.

My poor, sore tongue thanks you.

honestly I'm just as bad as you are if not worse. i sometimes will run them through a little fabric pinch in my pants I'm wearing to hold them for a moment.

my arms have been scratched many times for my stupidity on that one. ๐Ÿ˜… my mouth might be safer place, actually. lol

Before I developed the habit of temporarily holding my needle in my mouth, I used to stick it in the arm rest of the sofa. I also used to forget about it there, and stab myself. Maybe we need to look into magnets on watchband like things.

@KittenBiscuits @Nima I know they make pincushion bracelets, but I would think it would be a bit awkward and I'd probably*still* forget to use it! ๐Ÿ˜…

Get a cute magnet to rest it on! :D

I only keep them out of my mouth because of an incident in my teens that left me with a slightly chipped tooth. ๐Ÿ˜… So they end up stabbed through the corners or back of the workpiece, the loose fabric of my clothing, or the arm of my chair. So far, I haven't managed to do myself more damage that way than my active young cat does when he's feeling playful, so I don't sweat it unless I actually lose track of one.

(If you haven't guessed already, none of us are much good at reminding ourselves to be safe, never mind someone else!)

@lemmy_stitch @crossstitch @christianstitchers @textilearts @fiberarts @fibrearts I originally started this as a solution to my #BadHabit of holding my needle in my mouth while getting more embroidery floss ready in between colors as I #CrossStitch. My idea was 2 make a #PinCusion that had Velcro on the bottom, so I could either wear it as a bracelet while stitching or use it on a table if I needed to...

@lemmy_stitch @crossstitch @christianstitchers @textilearts @fiberarts @fibrearts Well, now it's a #Cat toy. Our #Kitty was so depressed that Husband got gifts for his birthday and she didn't have anything to open, I felt obligated to give it to her so she didn't feel left out. So now I have to make a new one for *me*. At least she likes it! And she's not depressed anymore! ๐Ÿ˜„ @christianartists #CrossStitch #Embroidery #Sewing #Ladybug #Ladybugs #Cats #Catstodon #CatsOfMastodon #Handmade
