I think it's brilliant! To find these connections, no matter what! Everything that happens becomes a cornerstone of your belief. You are the one making sense of Tom and Jerry. It must be so reassuring, so warm.
But probably it only works if your life depends on the game not ending - on the fact that Tom doesn't catch Jerry. If you are one of the grifters.
