The bronze medalist of women’s mountain biking at the Paris Olympics helped her competitor win silver. Yes, you read that correctly.

Let’s start at the beginning.

Haley Batten, 25, was tested both physically and mentally in the women’s mountain bike final on Monday afternoon in Elancourt, France.

Batten did not have the start she wanted. But she stayed calm and rider by rider, caught up to third place on the descent.

Then, on the fourth lap of seven, Batten punctured her tire on the rock portion of the race and fell to eighth place.

You love to see sportsmanship like this. Might sound trite talking about faff like the "olympic spirit" but in an increasingly cutthroat world it's great to see acts of kindness and selflessness like this.

Mountain Biking overall was a hit this Olympics for me. Pidcock's comeback in the men's final was awesome to watch too.

TLDR.

The American got a flat in the rocky section and the swede who passed her then yelled out to the Americans mechanic further ahead that she had gotten a flat tyre so they were ready with a very quick tyre swap
