As a single dad, this sucks.

The comic is utter bullshit.

Flip the man and the woman and change the text to "Can you come back? A lightbulb needs changing" and you've got sexism, but this is supposed to be funny because dads are bad?

of course silly, everybody knows it isn't sexism when it's against a man! men aren't a systematically subjugated group which means that jokes at their expense are "punching up" and therefore have 0 restrictions

This just in: primary caregiver more likely to remember medical details! I'm a stay-at-home dad, and I have much greater knowledge about my kids' medical history.

And my ex thinks our kids are loaded with ALL the allergies. They've been here 2-months without issue, and that's spending half their time outdoors and in the woods.

It's fucked up. She's training them to be sick and dependent on her. When I pick them up, they're sniffling non-stop. That's over by the end of the 8-hour trip and doesn't start again until she gets them back. Rinse and repeat.

that would make me worried about her house, black mold can be invisible and have nasty effects like that.

Nurse here. This is worth looking in to. That shit can cause lingering lung/respiratory issues if exposure is too excessive.

Hey i hate to leach medical advice but is bleaching the walls sufficient?

Im stuck in a 24 month contract and after one month it is clear that all the walls have been freshly painted over to hide mold. I have daily allergic reactions but what else could I do?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

That's really more of a contractor type of question because it all depends on how extensive/deep it is/was. I do know that you can get cheapish test kits to see if there are any spores shedding into the living area.

Not the OP but my friend went through something similar with a bad rental. Step one is get a dehumidifier, deprive the mold of the moisture it needs. This won't solve the main problem, especially if the roof is leaking, but it'll help keep mold off of interior surfaces like walls. Step two: bleach works to kill the mold, but does nothing for further prevention. What we used was foaming mold killer spray. It clings to the walls and also will prevent mold from coming back. And please, please get a checkup from a doctor once you have moved out. My friend had a lot of inflammation and other problems from living with the mold for so long. Dr was able to manage her recovery and help her to get back on track. Also fuck your landlord they sound like a real peice of work.

You dont even know the start of it when it comes to my landlord. Currently the list of broken stuff that they wont fix:

  • sink is cracked
  • boiler doesnt work
  • damp
  • the lock freezes shut when it goes below 0C
  • chipped walls

you do know allergies act up with environmental triggers, right? is her house has something that yours doesn't, that can be enough. doesn't have to be deliberate. you should maybe check what allergies they have instead of speculating.

Thought of that too but that's very rare so probably not it

[–] [email protected] 24 points 1 month ago

Fuck this comic. I know that my kids have no allergies!

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 month ago

Hey, this is bullshit

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Just have kids without allergies. Problem solved.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Just have enough children and let natural selection run it's course

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

Traditional

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

I don't get this comic, did she leave him and the kids or go on a vacation alone?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

So many upset people. Everyone is different in experiencing this issue. Sometimes both spouses know the allergies and sometimes only one does and sadly sometimes neither give two shits about their kids.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That’s not the point. I can’t believe you did a “both sides” for this cartoon, lol.

Point is the cartoon portrays the dad poorly, and people are tired of dads constantly being portrayed as inept or incapable. That’s why the backlash.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Hmm. I've taken some time to think about your reply. My point was the same but worded in a way I guess doesn't make sense. It's a cartoon. Why does it matter how the cartoonist represented their thoughts? People getting upset over it is dumb. That is why I made a both sides of the cartoon. Either way you look at it you're going to have people that either agree and laugh or get upset and irritated and then lash out over how it isn't appropriate or whatnot.
