My exped Synmat ul is starting to delaminate. It's only a little bit yet, but that little bit is getting bigger, so i guess i will have to buy a new mat in the not so distant future, hope it will hold up for my current trip.

Any recommendations for a light, small packing isolated (i think mine has r 2.9 which is enough for me) and kind of silent mat? Long term usage recommendations welcome.

Happened to mine after about 8-10 years. Turned into a long tube essentially. I gave them a call to ask about their warranty, they sent me a new one with no questions even though mine was several years out of their warranty period…

Give them a call, they might replace yours too. Unless your looking for something different.

There are so many situations where if you just talk to someone and be polite, they'll bend over backwards to help you. I got loads of educational discounts back when I was in school for services that didn't officially provide any because I just reached out. Always awesome to hear when companies (or at least the people who work for them) help out like that!

Oh that's great to hear, i will try to do that. I've been happy with it, just if i was buying new i'd like it to be less loud. Not for me but for potential neighbours.

It just needs to hold up a good three more weeks.

FTR, i just received my replacement mat. Since the synmat ul is no longer available, i got the successor mat, the ultra 3r. And another shnozzle bag. Nice. Contact with exped was very good.

Awesome! Glad to hear it wasn’t a one off experience on my end. They sent an upgrade for me too, since mine was the old style imbedded ‘cat kneading bread’ pump. The shnozzle is quite nice.

For what it’s worth… Osprey also has awesome customer support. I’ve found several backpacks of theirs thrown out, they’ve sent replacement parts free of charge.

Nice to hear there are companies like this out there.

I really like my nemo tensor insulated pad. Pretty quiet and not as crinkly as some of the others. Not a crazy high r value and fairly compact. I would definitely suggest trying one in an REI before buying.

I like my tensor insulated as well. Be aware that they do have an issue with the fabric welds failing. Once that starts happening, your pad is screwed. This was an issue with pads circa 2021, not sure if they have fixed it yet.

But I do love the pad while it works...

Come on, pad, two more nights.
