Oops, I forgot my pin. Damn this feeble aging brain.

Either that or set up a pin which wipes the phone when entered. Wild these are the only real options aside from handing over intimate personal information. Crazy times we're living in...

I've heard people say things like this but is that actually possible? To create a pin that wipes a phone?

GrapheneOS has a duress pin feature, which will wipe the device when entered. This being the case, I'd bet there's also a method to setting this up on a normal android device too.

Needs root access though

You can set up your phone to reset itself if the incorrect pin is entered enough times

This is why if you ever go to a protest, always make sure you bring a burner phone, preferably without SIM if it doesn't have an eSIM. If you have an old phone and can do it yourself or afford to have someone else do it, but replace the SSD on your burner with something fresh to ensure even if you wipe the phone they can't get the old data off your old SSD. This is the feds we're talking about, of course they're gonna have access to software that'll allow them to reconstruct the data on a wiped drive as an option. Then all you have to do is to just not store any information you don't want getting out onto your burner, anything that the feds can easily use against you.

Unless you're a major target, I doubt they're gonna search your home for your actual phone or go through your contacts as well.
