How is the system running lemmy.ca doing? I'm curious to know about the storage size this instance has and if there was any plan to purge data after X years of inactivity?

We store nginx access logs for 7 days, and pgp encrypted database backups are stored for 14 days. All data is kept within Canada at ovh Beauharnois.

We're running on a pair of 500gb nvme disks in raid 1, with a db size of 10gb and then about 120gb of uploaded images. We're planning to move the images to ovh object storage soon, so 500gb will be plenty for the db for a long time.

If you delete your data then it'll be fully rotated out from us after 2 weeks, but you should not expect federated instances to comply. Expect anything you post to be always out there and unremovable. Purging based on inactivity isn't on our radar right now, but maybe in the future.

CPU and memory wise we've got tons of breathing room as well. We should scale on this hardware to much higher levels.

Happy to answer any questions!
