This was some serious nostalgia flashbacks.
I remember having access to shell accounts @ an ISP that was on an OC-48 backbone back when dialup Internet was just starting to hit mainstream. Hosted so many things in #exceed (and it's predecessor that I forget the name of now) and #OldWarez
Unlikely. It's basically just direct downloading so unless there server you're connecting to is a honeypot, the only people who would know what you're doing are yourself and the person distributing. Much safer than torrenting.
How should I avoid honeypots? I’ll be using the Rizon network if that helps.
Oh I don't think they really exist. Nobody cares about IRC. It was more theoretical than anything worth being concerned over. Apologies, I would have been more clear.
We don't have that problem in Slovakia XD. Here you can pretty much do anything without a VPN and never be punished
