lol I see what you did there.

For those curious, simchat means something like “rejoice” in Hebrew. It’s pronounced sim-khaat. Probably its most common usage to Jews around the world is as part of the name of the holiday Simchat Torah, when it’s customary to get absolutely shitfaced drunk and dance around with torahs. It marks the end of the reading of the torah, and the beginning of the reading of the torah. A very fun holiday.

So it has nothing to do with The Sims?

Weird that they misspelled their name on the banner.

Am I missing something here?

It's anglicized from Hebrew בַּיִת (house); there are a bunch of accepted ways to spell it, including "bet" and "bayt" as well.

They support gay rights and fine wine and spirits, we can forgive the spelling misteake.

Beth, Beit, Beis, all mean 'home' they probably changed it to be more inline with modern pronunciation/spelling, though I didn't see anything to that effect.

Funny, they don't look like New Yorkers

That's just because they didn't colorize the city until 1982. They couldn't use Technicolor because of some weird zoning law.
