Bonus berry

Edit to save @[email protected] sanity.

This berry is the first decent sized one from some plants that were on their death bed at a big box store a couple weeks ago. I brought them home and dropped them into my setup to see how they'd do, and clearly they're enjoying things. It was exceptionally sweet.

I was driving myself crazy trying to figure out what the berry was until I clicked the post!

lovely lettuces and mint?

Some head lettuce and leaf lettuce. Iceberg, lambs lettuce, black seeded simpson, red leaf, green leaf, and a couple I'm forgetting at the moment. I try to rotate at least a few of the varieties every time I replant.

The mint is Apple Mint I picked up from a local store this year and added to my torture chambers. It's much easier to contain when it's in a jar but the flip side is the damn thing drinks like a sailor and as you can see CAN'T STAY IN ITS OWN DAMN SPACE. It drinks upwards of 2L a week even with constant trimming for teas and whatnot. I actually let it run dry for a couple days because I've been unusually busy but it's doing just fine still.

One of my regrets this season is not grabbing a bunch of mint plants the day I found them. Apple mint, strawberry mint, pineapple mint, etc. The store was calling them 'mint fruit salad' and each one has a very unique smell, some closer to the namesake than others but all very different from the more common varieties I'm used to. Rumor has it there's a nursery in town with a few of them but I haven't been there yet to check. Someday.
