I had a friend years ago who would constantly do this... Anytime someone would ask her for advice she would just go on a 10 minute rant about how much worse she had it when the same thing happened to her. She never actually gave any useful information about how she dealt with the issue, she just complained for a while and then acted like she had done you a favor somehow lol

We all just eventually stopped telling her anything personal after a while

Lol, mine too. My friend was probably worse, though.

"I don't have a life or a job"

"FR me too"

"I thought you were a therapist"

Everyones says their friends secretly hate them. Also everyone says they hate people. So we are all just hating on each other and feeling sad about other people hating on us

Thing is I don't think everyone is like that. I don't think others really do hate at much as internet people tend to hate. Everyone in my real life cannot relate to those statements

Why should my friends hate me? They could just not be my friends at any point and it would be fine. No need to stay friends with me.

And I I hate people in general but not every person individually.

No, we just all hate you.

There's "being supportive by disclosing that you've had similar experiences" and there's "being invalidating by making it about you". This falls into the latter category.

You jest but there is people literally claiming soc media is better than their therapist

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

That's depressing

My brother goes to a therapist regularly, as does his wife and kids. One of his biggest sources of depression is his financial difficulties - and he's literally spending $40K per year on therapy, almost half of his annual income.
