Not that it helps you, but you did nothing wrong - the UI is just confusing for 2FA on Lemmy right now. You're supposed to enable it, then press F5, and the field will then display a 2FA code you can add to your authenticator or convert manually into a QR code.
If you leave the page without hitting F5 and getting that code, you're locked out.
Hope the admins sort it out for you.
Well crap… That really sucks, but thanks for coming in an confirming the issue. I really hope an admin can turn it off, it’s especially frustrating if you’re on a phone and hit it when clicking save. 🙁 So far I’m lucky I’m still logged in on the Memmy iOS app. 🤞
If I remember how I solved it, you click on forgot password or whatever it is called. Then you make a new password and you get logged in. Then you can go into setting to remove it.
Okay trying resetting got me into the account on Safari, and I clicked to remove it in Settings and saved.
But, it seems to be staying there with the Remove 2FA check box clicked. Not sure if this is as intended or if the problem is fixed? 🤔 
Just hoping for confirmation before I give up and this bites me in a week lol.
When you have clicked save you just reload the page
I did, but it continued until I closed Safari and reopened it, which seemed to do the trick (Maybe Safari doesn’t get along?), but thank you so much!
No problem. I have an Android so I don't have much knowledge of how iphone works. But glad to hear you got it fixed. I Hope they make the 2FA better.
Well you understood the jist and managed to fix it, so color me impressed lol. And I agree on 2FA, it’s a must… when it works.
