Age snuck up on me yesterday afternoon. I picked up Djunior and completely threw out my back. I had hoped it would go better today, but after a night of agony, I'm thinking today will be a day of agony. Sigh. Funny how we can go for decades feeling much like we did when we were 20 years old and suddenly, boom, back pain.

Don Josè's banana, coco and ice (menthol) was a nice distraction.

Seeing an osteopath is the only thing that helps me with that kind of pain - unless it's something I can correct myself with exercise.

Generally, prophylactic exercise is the only reliable path, but if it doesn't hurt, it's hard to remain motivated.

So much this.

I used to have one hour of bicycle per day for my commute to work and I played in the local squash league twice a week. I dropped both when Djunior was born. It shouldn't come as a surprise, but I'm still shocked by how much strength I just lost in a few short years.

  • Brush: Zenith r/Wetshaving Exclusive MOAR BOAR (31 mm × 57 mm bleached boar)
  • Razor: Wade & Butcher "You Lather Well" 5/8, Wedge Square Point
  • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - Deep Blue Sea
  • Post Shave: Stirling Soap Co. - Deep Blue Sea Aftershave Splash

First time with this W&B (thank you again u/VisceralWatch). I refreshed the edge earlier with this afternoon. Taking it my Shobudani Suita then to my Nakayama Kiita, and of course had to strop on the Kanayama. My lather must've been dialed in pretty well, as it did indeed shave well.

Close and comfortable shave, no nicks or irritation.

Leviathan++;

Love that scent. Had a chat with Will about it at the Meetup. He talked about how he gets a decay-like dankness out of the aroma of black coffee.

  • Brush: Wolfman WRB2 Bronze w/AP Shave Co MiG 26mm Premium Hybrid
  • Razor: Wolfman Razors WR2/WRH2 (setting: 1.05)
  • Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock SharpEdge (Yellow) (1)
  • Lather: Noble Otter - Firefighter - Soap
  • Toner: Thayers - Lemon - Toner
  • Aftershave: Noble Otter - Jack - Aftershave
  • Fragrance: Floris of London - Jermyn Street - Eau de Toilette
  • Talc: Yardley Gold

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

I really like the way Jack lifts the grapefruit and other top notes of Firefighter to a more citrusy finish. It is a beautiful warm day here in Maryland and this combination seemed like a perfect fit.

I have a sampler of Floris scents and I like all of them. You need to be a serious and distinguished individual to carry off wearing these. Clearly, that's me.

With this setup it was definitely a talc day for me.
