Normally I love characters who seem more evil than they normally are, but I just can't get behind this one. I know it's supposed to be sweet fluffy romance, but the slavery element is too much for me. The show treats Zagan like he's a great guy when all he did was not plan to murder or torture the bride he purchased. The romance also falls a bit flat when Nephy seems to have no character traits beyond "submissive" - it makes the whole thing feel fetishy. Most of the jokes did land, though, and the storytelling was good even if the story itself was questionable.

Overall, a bit of a mixed 3/5 that I'm not interested in continuing.

The localized title just drops the slave part out of the title. The labyrinth slave harem show did that too.

I enjoyed the first episode. Perhaps because I used to follow the manga, so it gives me a different view on it - expectations on the characters and the relationship becoming deeper.

Still, note the "used to follow". Eventually it becomes stale; the anime might go this way, too. Dunno - I'll give the next episode a try, and see how it turns out.
