Meta has already announced interopability opportunity since March 6. Has anything been made after that? All I know is that Signal apparently won't operate with them.

They didn't open anything really. All they did was to allow companies to interact with their client API in an extremely limited fashion and only after signing an NDA riddled contract.

Its no wonder there are no takers on this "offer" and I hope the EU fines them billions for this malicious compliance.

No, they have 6 more months to finish this still. EU granted them more time to finish this API because they filled for extension and provided them reasons why. All other DMA clauses regarding messenger other than interoperability are not included in this extension

Hmm, I was indeed going by their WhatsApp api access, but I doubt FB Messenger will be substantially different after 6 months.

Has there been official communication from Signal that they won't?

yes.

Signal does not want to lower its standards for WhatsApp either. "Our privacy bar is extremely high, and not only will we not lower it, we want to keep raising it," says Signal President Meredith Whittaker. "Currently, working with Facebook Messenger, iMessage, WhatsApp or even a Matrix service would mean a degradation of our privacy standards."

I was curious about this too and had a little look myself, all I can find is that other companies interested in interopability are implementing MLS encryption instead of implementing the Signal protocol in their apps.

Can't find any info on Signal's blog about interest in adopting MLS encryption, or considering interopability with Meta apps that already use (or may use) the Signal protocol... unless I've missed something or been looking in the wrong place

Messenger is implementing signal protocol for interoperability, you can read this in their blog post

My guess that they might only integrate WhatsApp and maybe instagram chat with their messenger. Makes sense that they will focus first on their apps.

Even if they do, I would run away from any service/app that would open to them. And so should everyone!
