I have to admit, like Sean, this is probably my favorite episode of the New Trek Era. There's been so much to unravel.

Riker!
Such strong stories and acting this season!
That's how I felt about it myself, they knocked it out of the park.
As someone that loves "Strange New Worlds" but has never checked out "Lower Decks" well, second star to the right and straight on til morning I guess (gonna start watching "LD")
It's absolutely worth it. I love Strange New Worlds, but Lower Decks honestly beats it out to make my top 3 favorite Star Trek series. It's so good
I was very skeptical about it at first, but then it turned out to have some great characters and thoughtful storylines on top of all the deep lore self-referential jokes.
I liked this episode, but I thought the opening Lower Decks bit was pretty unfunny. Is the actual show different? It felt like all of the characters were trying way too hard to be quirky and the jokes didn't really land for me.
Like all adult comedy animation, it's hit or miss and highly dependent on your mood and how you respond to animation.
It's alright, gets better from season 2 tbh
It's quite good, although I personally found the first episode to be among the weaker ones in the show. It just made it seem more like a Star Trek-themed Tick and Morty, whereas the later episodes tended to fare better.
I loved Mariners line about the enterprise crew talking slowly. The difference in speed between the SNW and LD dialogue was something I noticed and this one line made it click for me. Fantastic
Surprised none of these reviews have mentioned the translation, that got a chuckle out of me.
Literally translates to "Time Portal." Yeah that was hilarious.
Sean didn't mention La'an's timing in the shuttle when she catches Boimler and Mariner in the shuttle just after she says "I never get caught." That was really funny as well.
Honestly there's just so much in this episode, that even after several viewings I'm sure you'd still be picking out small references and easter eggs here and there.

I watched the reviews and spoilers before watching the episode so that I could appreciate them all in my first go for this exact reason; they always shove so much into these kinds of episodes that it's near impossible to get them all and I'm here for it lol
Indeed, but I've watched a half dozen reviews at least, and none have mentioned it, though Ups & Downs was the most thorough. Heck, La'an's timing's been mentioned in at least one or two of those, but the translation? Nope, zip. Yeah, I think people will be catching stuff for weeks if not months afterwards.
Loved this episode. Best I’ve seen in years.
I feel like Sean is the kind of guy I could geek out with
I think my favorite part about this episode is any amount of excessive silliness or criticism of being too fan-servicey is completely obliterated by the very next episode which deals with the trauma and horror of war head on. It didn't feel like whiplash either, which I think speaks to the fact that even though episode 7 was silly there were still very serious emotional beats like Boimler convincing Pike to have a birthday party so he can hang out with the people that love him.
This is one of my favorite Star Trek episodes I can recall watching in the past few years. Loved the crossover and had no idea what was coming as I hadn’t heard anything prior. Had to scroll through Lemmy to find a post about it just to comment that I loved it.
