The Kremlin said on Monday that the only way to protect Russian territory from Ukrainian attacks was to create a buffer zone that would put Russian regions beyond the range of Ukrainian fire. The Kremlin was commenting after President Vladimir Putin raised the possibility of setting up such a zone in a speech after winning re-election on Sunday.

I agree, but you orcish assholes are going to hate where that DMZ zone starts & ends.

Belgorod and Rostov-on-Don People´s Republics, then.

Yeah and then in 5 years they suddenly need to create another buffer zone beyond the buffer zone because the old buffer zone is now part of Russia.

And so on and so on.

It's medieval style excuses for territorial expansion.

Isn't that basically an admisdion of Russian weakness? We are too weak to defend our people properly, that's why we have to conwuer Ukraine...

Anyways, they will just expand that buffer zone more and more if they are allowed to have one. Hopefully the west will help Ukraine more.

Putin is needing a safe space.

The enemy is weak and powerless compared to our glorious might. The enemy is an existential threat.

It’s just standard Russian doublethink

Good idea!

I propose Russia draws back to, say, 60km behind the pre-2014 borders and they can have a 20km bufferzone.
