This is a sakura themed installment of the monthly visuals they have been releasing for this series leading up to the April premiere. You can see all the visuals they have released so far on the official website here.

Series premieres this April and is a re-adaptation of the story instead of a continuation of the previous series. Synopsis from AniList:

Lawrence is a traveling merchant selling various goods from a horse-drawn cart. One day, he arrives at a village and meets a beautiful girl with the ears and tail of an animal! Her name is Holo the Wisewolf and she brings bountiful harvests. She wishes to return to her homeland, and Lawrence offers to take her. Now, the once-lonely merchant and the once-lonely wisewolf begin their journey north.

This is the first anime I've been excited for in well over a decade. I hope they finish the story this time.

I don't believe they have stated how many episodes this is planned for. So, who knows how far into the story they are planning to go. I suspect that the production committee has already planned for a longer-running series or else why re-adapt a series that stopped airing years ago? Time will tell...

I hope so, from my understanding the book series was finished some years ago so there's no reason not to adapt the whole thing unless they want to be pricks about it.

The design on these key visuals are so solid, it’s like that’s what Holo was supposed to look like. Not putting down the original artwork of the anime, but this is peak Spice & Wolf character design.
