Would be nice if there was legislation that prevented companies from doing this, so price increases couldn't be concealed so easily.

Disallow the packaging artwork to be resized more than once a year. I would love to see the shrink as a cropped area on the packaging

But they haven't made the pack size smaller, they just introduced a fun new size that was so popular they stopped selling the old size pack!

I don't mind this, I'd prefer to get a little less than a price increase, but I'd like to be made aware of that. Not sure who or how would be best to notify customers though.
