I have a sequence in 2100HLG (rec2020 color space) that I'm trying to export in hevc (h265) for submission to youtube. I'm pretty sure I'm doing everything right, but youtube refuses to publish it in HDR...

Using the guidelines here: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/7126552#zippy=%2Cupload-requirements

I've tried several exports, but the most exact to their specs are the two following mediainfos:

Is there something glaring I'm missing?

These certainly play back fine locally in HDR but once uploaded to youtube they are interpreted as non-HDR (though they look relatively fine, just in SDR, like youtube is silently tonemapping)

Does it say they’re not HDR? Are you able to see other videos in HDR? That article makes it look like places you can watch in HDR are limited, so I’m wondering if it’s working but you just can’t see it?

Yes, compared to HDR videos it just lists it as 4k, rather than 4k HDR. My device definitely shows whether it's HDR in the quality settings (e.g. "2160p60 HDR" for hdr videos instead of the normal "2160p60" on the ones I've uploaded). Additionally, "stats for nerds" shows it as being rec709

Color range : Limited

Sorry to be so long getting back to this; wanted to look on my computer for a wider screen. I did notice this in the Mediainfo readout; maybe that's the problem? It's just under the date info in the container section. That's the only thing that really stands out.

What are you editing/exporting in?

Sorry to say this whole thread may be nonsense. It just took several days for YouTube to make the HDR version available; the video I uploaded worked!

Just for completeness, I was editing in premiere pro 24 and the limited color range was not a problem

Still good to know; I haven’t tried to upload anything HDR there but might someday!
