Igor Girkin, the former commander of Russian forces in occupied Ukraine's Donetsk Oblast, has been arrested in Moscow on extremism charges, according to his wife and Russian media. Girkin, also known as Igor Strelkov, is a former colonel in Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) and served as defense minister in the separatist Donetsk People's Republic in eastern Ukraine. Girkin was previously found guilty in 2022 by a Dutch court for his role in the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 in 2014, which resulted in the death of all 298 people on board - Ground News

The ironic thing is that he's extremist from Russia's perspective because he's honest, and extremest from Ukraine's perspective because he's willing to do anything for Russia's sake.
