From what I've observed, many accounts which were critiqued to the current Modi govt have been withheld in the country. Accounts of farmer leaders were also suspended amid the ongoing farmers protest in the country. It's worth noting that India will see the general elections this year around May.

Because we had a good thing with the internet. It was a free marketplace of ideas where people could discuss things freely and honestly.

However, all the good ideas tend to be left-leaning and now that the internet has been opened up to morons we have professional trolls arguing in bad faith, convincing the morons to work against their best interest. Meanwhile, every good website eventually gets eaten up by corporations motivated solely by profit.

That’s why I think the scales have tipped towards authoritarianism. Now I’ll just sit here and wait for some troll to come call me a commie or something for this comment.

Although, some people seem to be thinking that going full Putin would be a good idea for some reason…

What you're forgetting is that communism has killed more people than have ever lived.

Jokes aside, capitalism needs authoritarianism to prop it up. It's a secular religion.

I did say “tend to be,” so whether or not a person thinks chairman meow is left or right is irrelevant. No need go full meow now. :p

Well analysed.

If you want to find out, you would need to ask the people of all over the world.

Right! Good thinking!

I’ll get right on it!

I’ll start with you! What do YOU think?!

[–] [email protected] 14 points 6 months ago

Fucking despicable.

And if you think this is a just India thing, that Twitter is not trying to tip the scales toward fascists in your country's elections, you should think again. This is important to consider wherever you are.

India has fascist leadership and a millions of nationalists brigading criticism online. Those they can't shun with countless lies and bullying are silenced with the help of big tech. The subcontinent should never have become a single country.

The colonized states basically organized as one as a protest of the british colonialism. And the first thing they did was start a religious war among themselves. They were always trying to be a religious fascist state. And they made two of them after the partition.

The subcontinent should never have become a single country

They got divided? India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar. Being together isnt the issue, thats our one of the biggest strength that we made a nation with people who had very much different cultures. This time, nationalists are using emotions of depressed, poor peoples to get votes and do their thing, time will come and people will become aware.
