While

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday he was "committed to continuing the war until we achieve all of its goals" and no pressure could change it.

Effectively saying fuck you all, I will do what I want.

When you have the USA in your back pocket they let you do it. You can do anything

Well, they've got a point.

I'm surprised they didn't put the boot in to the UK's shameful abstention too.

Disgraceful.

Hoping this is part of a larger diplomatic strategy to secure a ceasefire. If Israel actually attacks Rafah, the civilian death toll will be catastrophic, and it will turn allies into enemies.

This is the line that must not be crossed. The civilians retreated to this last point. Attacking it is genocide.

If Israel actually attacks Rafah, the civilian death toll will be catastrophic, and it will turn allies into enemies.

That's already happened while Americans were watching the superbowl, at the same time congress approved another 14.1 billion dollar package to Israel. That's in addition to 14.5 billion dollars that was sent since October 2023 in addition to the 3.8 billion dollars the U.S. sends every year.

US has no interest in a ceasefire, it's too easy to launder public money to weapons manufacturers.

If Israel actually attacks Rafah

Do I have news for you... It's been happening for a while.

This like trying to draw a line over your shoes while standing on the edge of a cliff ..... move the line or yourself any further and you're free falling.

Every day America shows how it is weaker than China.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

In response to the veto, China's UN ambassador Zhang Jun said the claim the motion would interfere with ongoing diplomatic negotiations was "totally untenable".

The draft resolution proposed by the US calls for a temporary ceasefire "as soon as practicable" and on the condition that all hostages are released, as well as urging barriers on aid reaching Gaza to be lifted.

It also states a major ground offensive in Rafah would result in more harm to civilians and their further displacement, including potentially into neighbouring countries - a reference to Egypt.

But Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday he was "committed to continuing the war until we achieve all of its goals" and no pressure could change it.

Many of the displaced are living in makeshift shelters or tents in squalid conditions, with scarce access to safe drinking water or food.

Israeli war cabinet member Benny Gantz has warned the ground assault will be launched unless Hamas frees all its hostages by 10 March.
