The mantra "Doom runs on anything" means the game should be executed by the device in question.
Here, this is not the case, the gut bacteria only acts as a display.

They should have let it play "bad apple" instead.

That's the case for a lot of the "doom runs on it" ones, like that pregnancy test. But I like the idea that if it can compute, it can run Doom; if it can display, it can play Bad Apple.

I love how bad apple is the doom of animation. it's a fun rabbit hole to dive into whenever utube recommends me one

We did it folks, we can now install doom on the human body

[–] [email protected] 13 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Talk to me when we can install mods too

[–] [email protected] 11 points 9 months ago

That's Deus Ex

[–] [email protected] 10 points 9 months ago (1 children)

No doubt Elon will have that installed first thing on his newest guinea pig.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

He will install twitter and have the person tweet as the first internet integration before any testing of that integration, shortly thereafter the person will die.

Thought Emporium is trying to grow neurons in order to play doom.

It will run on a PI or such, but will be completely played by living tissue grown from rat cells.

I believe another one of their goals was to grow neurons out of their own human cells and then see who in the lab has the neurons most capable of playing doom. Or maybe verse each other in quake and see whose neurons win.

I'm in a behavioral neuroscience lab and I'm trying to convince my PI to get in on this.

That would be really slow... but okay, if you insist:-).

We need to try it on a watermelon too then, to see if size effects the fps

Berries barely bear boss battles. Betting both blow.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 9 months ago

How about a pineapple? One of the biggest berries.

Also, it eats flesh. That's surely gotta make it good for Doom, right?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

It might actually - more cells = more mitochondria = more power! So better do the watermelon first, then miniaturize the whole thing and take on a grape later.:-D

[–] [email protected] 4 points 9 months ago

Ahh yes the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell

But all I have is lemonade!

i guess sometimes even bacteria want to have some fun and play Doom. They deserve it.

Yes and no https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/you-can-play-doom-using-gut-bacteria-but-the-framerate-is-atrocious

They didn't manage to actually run doom on the bacteria, they used them as a display to show it running though

[–] [email protected] 2 points 9 months ago

Bad apple on gut bacteria when

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago

Now make it run Crysis on Ultra.

Peter Steinlechner? Is this the German journalist who was writing for Gamestar in the early days?
